A proposal to divide California into six states has received enough signatures to make the November 2016 ballot. Here’s how.

Wow. They’re actually trying to gerrymander the electoral college now. This is a deliberate and transparent attempt by Republicans to break up the democrats’ greatest stronghold in presidential elections. If you look at the demographics of the proposed plan, it isolates the areas with the most democrats into three states that would be solidly democratic, leaving the other three states to be swing states that lean republican. 

it’s probably not going to happen, but that’s the real reason behind this initiative— and another example of how the electoral college is arbitrary and opens the door for corruption and political manipulation.
